From what I am reading.... You need to download the file and install it then delete the vendor.xml file.... at least that what I did different and everything works well!

Ok. Thanks! Do you know at what point I am supposed to delete the themes from 4.0 that I was directed to do a few posts ago?

This I have no idea about... I didn't have any "extra" themes when I went from 4.0 to 4.1 so the I didn't have any problem..... you may want to try w/o deleting any themes first and then if it doesn't work then start deleting before you upgrade

I will try that thanks. No doubt my wife will be watching me do this again and laughing at me just like she did yesterday when I messed it up.

I believe that it is. I will double check later when I get home. I can just go into the help tab and click About and find out what version it is correct?

For the record once and for all. The Vendor.XML file needs to be deleted after you install the handheld software. Each time you install the handheld software vendor.xml is created to lock you out from installing other carriers' software on your phone. So each time you install any handheld software, you have to remove it again.

One more dumb question. I cant (and have searched!) find the link to the Hong Kong CSL to download this again?

Default Works on Orange (FR) and Proximus (BE)

Just installed CSL 4.1 on 2 7290's. One on Orange(FR) and one on Proximus(BE).
Everything works fine.
Great new stuff.

I'm considering going back to 4.0 just because of this, but I have heard that PD is working with the 8700's on 4.1
I have been in contact with Cross River Systems (creator of PocketDay) via their Bug Reports/Problems forum about this issue. I would encourage you to add your issue to my thread, letting them know you're having a problem with the 7100 as well. You can see the thread here:

http://www.crossriversystems.com/for...hread.php?t=91

You can try the stuff they suggest in that thread to see if it works for you but I wasn't successful using their tips. They said they are going to upgrade their unit to 4.1 soon to see if they can replicate the problem so hopefully they'll have a fix soon.

Ok. So I am going to try this again when I get home. This is what I am going to do.

1) I am going to delete from my PC the 4.0 Desktop Manager Software as well as the 4.0 Handheld Software. And also unload any additional themes that were added under 4.0.

2) I am going to go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22 and download the 4.1 Desktop Manager Software

3) I am going to go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=EEFC9E10EBDC4A2333B42B2DBB8F27B6 and download the 4.1 Handheld Software for 7100.

4) I am going to go back and delete Vendor.XML file.

5) I am going to Launch Desktop Manager and plug in device and start App loader and hope this works this time...if not, I am going to stick with 4.0.

I'm waiting for the same. I wonder if the difference is possibly BES/Policy.

I'll wait till someone has some idea on how to get it on there without having to reinstall the OS again on my 7100....

I actually had to modify my Vendor.xml file. I copied the last 2 entries from CSL and put them at the bottom of T-Mobile. Started up Desktop Manager, and automagically got the update window.

Took some time to figure out, but it's updating as we speak.

Let me know how it works out. I have tried this twice and both times messed the phone up and had to reinstall desktop manager and device software 4.0

It ran for about 30 min total. But mostly because there were a lot of files to restore from the backup. But it's working just fine. I like the new look very much -- very cool looking icons. The Bluetooth options are there for data transfer, which is great. Nice to see that now you can mark a calendar entry as Busy/Free/Tentative (FINALLY!),

The addition of the "Advanced Options" grouping is nice, and where TCP and other options are now moved to. I'll be looking to do some more exploring over the weekend.

So far? Excellent!

A little worried that the Options/Settings menu greatly reduced. For instance, the TCP/IP setting line is not where I expected it. (It's probably somewhere else in the new OS.) I'll be looking to do some more exploring over the weekend.
Damn what I am I doing wrong. Mine will just not work. Well have fun with 4.1.

Maybe you need to edit your Vendor.xml file too. I was originally deleting it, as others in this thread had been suggesting, but the problem was with the new Vendor.xml. The entries for T-Mobile had not been updated, only the CSL. So I had to just copy the CSL entries over to T-Mobile.

If you didn't do that, it's worth a try. Just edit the section that matches your carrier.
