Question user should not see browser icon

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all. I have a situation where there are a group of users in our company that absolutely need to be restricted from accessing our corporate intranet using their Blackberry. I have created an it policy disallowing the browser so the bb browser icon does not show up on the handheld and that should take care of the intranet browsing on the Blackberry. But being of cautious nature it just seems to easy. Does anyone know if there is a back door to accessing a corporate intranet when the it policy is set up restricting the bb browser icon on the handheld? This solution must be absolute and in no way should users be able to get to the corporate intranet.

If anyone has a better solution please let me know.

Thanks

If you disallow MDS in that policy, that will take care of it all together. That can affect other apps depending on your carrier though. *cough* verizon *cough*

The "Allow Browser" policy only disables the default browser.
If this was used in conjunction with the "Default Browser Config UID"
policy to set the default browser to the SRP of your BES this would
allow you to ensure the MDS browser is disabled. Otherwise you coud
disable MDS on your BES' and use the "Enabled WAP Config" to disable the
WAP browser. This would only leave the "Internet Service" browser
behind.

I made the following changes on my BES to allow only the IBS:

Device Only Items: Enable WAP Config = False
Device Only Items: Defautl Browser Config UID = GPMDSEU01
Global Items: Allow Browser = False
