We have BES 4.0 and was wondering if there is a way to have a policy or other means to stop users installing certain applications on there Blackberry devices.

Any ideas?

Via the IT Policy you can disallow 3rd party applications.

Can you though restrict it to just certain applications or does it bar them all?

look into the BlackBerry Application Web Loader - this is a nice utility that will allow you to publish applications to a web server and then grant users rights to download from there the applications you have choosen.

In the IT policy you can restrict different applications on the BB HH, BUT if a new version of the application comes out you will have to also restrict that meaning you will have to be up to date on new releases

I think it would be easier to administer by restricting all applications and only allowing certain ones to be added. (having HH's in Groups) though i haven't really tried this yet
