Default Replaced old Curbe with new one - storage card questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, everyone. My old 8320 Curve had an issue so I was sent a brand new one. I had thousands of texts and hundreds of contacts on my old phone. I was under the impression that all of this information would immediately port over when I swapped the storage card from the old phone to the new one. However, nothing is there. Only the texts and contacts that were on my SIM card are there. I did perform a backup with BB Desktop Manager a month or so ago, but I'm not at my house to test it at the moment.

Can anyone clarify this situation? Shouldn't all of my information be on the storage card?

Thanks!

Texts and contacts are on the SIM card.
Pictures should be on the microSD media card.

Did you move both?

No - the only thing saved on media cards is media. You will need to use the Switch Device Wizard to swap the information from one 8320 to the other, or use the Restore option also in Desktop Manager to load the information from that back up.

Wirelessly posted

Nope, it's on the phone. Use the Desktop Manager Device Switch Wizard. The storage cards are mainly used for media files.

I did switch both the SIM and the MicroSD card. My pictures and songs are there, so at least I know it's reading the MicroSD card properly.

And I don't know if I can use the Device Switch Wizard because the old phone is pretty much fried. It won't turn on at all. When plugged into the computer, Windows makes the "device recognized" sound and then a second later makes the sound that should occur when you unplug the device.

I'll restore the backup when I get home if I can't use the Device Switch Wizard. I'll lose about a month's worth of texts, but I guess I'll have to deal with it.

Sorry - I misread the original post. Yes, use the Switch Device Wizard to move the contacts, notes, tasks, calendar and messages over. They are stored in Device memory.

Ah - the importance of backups...
