Hi Guys,

Need your help as my trackball for BB Bold 9700 would not scroll down. It work scrolling up and sideways but not for scrolling down.

Appreciate any suggestions to correct this. Thank you.

Are you sure its a 9700? 9700 has a sensor pad, 9000 has a trackball.

If its a 9000, it might be a classic case of "Blackberry Pizza Ball..."

If its just dirt, pocket lint, or stray pizza topping (yes I've seen it), and you've got fat fingers (result of too much pizza) don't pull it apart - you'll never get the magnetic rollers back together. Simply blow it out with compressed air!

(Supreme Pizza with extra oregano topping is the worst...)

If its not dirt, or its a BB 9700 sensor pad, then try a battery drop, and then maybe a firmware refresh.

A Q-tip with a little alcohol on it (not dripping wet!) and run it over the trackball, dry it with compressed air or wave it around. Make sure you don't soak the trackball or the Berry.

Sometimes pushing the ball in and scrolling down at the same time can dislodge the foreign material preventing the rollers from going down. It is also possible you damaged the very tiny teeth in the magnetic rollers from going down anymore. You may need to replace the trackball. There are youtube videos regarding how to replace it if you're past your warranty (opening the phone voids it) or you can find someone that is handier than you if the situation warrants it.

Yes, mine does that sometimes and i just clean it and it works fine. It is very frustrating though.
