I see the screen and its asking me if i want to answer or hang up etc, but when I press the keys to respond, nothing happens. So i end up losing the call.. then I have to wait some time till the screen goes black, then click teh button to make it come out of standby mode.
Its a real drag. Anyone else experience this?

I upgraded to the Rodgers version and I no longer have this problem.
I also found a fix to the Fav 5 overwriting text issue; if you rotate your Fav 5 in a complete loop, it clears the text back to normal. Maybe one day we will see a TMO 4.2.1 and it will correct this.

Just finished the upgrade. Had an issue with MyFaves, but after a soft-reset or two, it kicked in and actually runs better than before!!
Also used the edited blackberry.alx and everything went just like described!!

Hello every1. Well i have went threw 6 pages of this thread and didn't notice any1 saying anything about the Txt Multi tap issue.
I upgraded due to having the 3 second lag when i received a call. Got tired of the "Hello hello hello hello" but now i dunno whats worst the lag or the multi tap. HOnestly i do more txt than i do phone calls. haha.
Just wondering if this issue has been resolved. Or how/ If i can go bak to my old version. Thanks Guys

Probably because most users use the SureType. If you "hate" SureType it's because you don't know how to use it. It's much faster to use suretype and type out complete words than to use Multi Tap and shorten "your" to "ur" etc. It takes the exact same number of key presses....... my $.02

Well, the multitap issue started with the first ever 4.2.1 OS version (TIM) to be exact. So, this has been covered before and hopefully the next version will fix this issue. I started using SureType and have gotten used to it but would also love for my multitap to work properly, i wont settle for it to be buggy. It's not our fault that rim keeps releasing their 4.2.1 with the multitap bug. It's always good to have our options and some of us like suretype just as much as others like multitap.

Yes, somehow, I like suretype better than even full QWERTY. I surely think it takes less time because you don't need to move your thumb that much... Something that I think they can improve on is to make suretype remember what you type before and set that as default. For example, I type "CA" a lot as it is my state or residence, but everything, it show up as VA first, and I have to scroll to get CA....

I cannot agree more, when I'm trying to explain the difference between suretype and full qwerty I try and explain to them that the easiest way to get used to th keypad is just to type the word. Don't sit and analyze the keypad, JUST type. The more they think about it, the more aggravating it is looking for letters.
Just my .02 and since I'm the guy whose selling em, it helps for me to able to demonstrate the speed and ease with which suretype can be mastered.

The only thing that I would improve with suretype is predictive text, so you don't have to type out the entire word if it knows what you are typing.

question for you guys...
i have tried the TIM and rogers updates and rolled back to cingular both times due to issues and slowness. the only thing that really gets me on the newer versions is that when im trying to dial someones phone number by typing in their name - the list of matches comes up as expected and i can roll over the name and pick the number i want.... under the 4.2 versions, it takes a good second or two for the numbers to pop up when im rolling over a name. the cingular version im runnign now is instantaneous. this is crazy annoying and is the only reason i went back to the old.
my question - is this normal for all you guys? or if i ungrade and actually wipe all data and hook back to my BES will this behavior most likely go away? I just really dont want to lose my message history and take time to test this theory if everyone has this delay problem....

I have recently noticed that I have been getting a rediculous amount of dropped calls while I am at my apartment. I'll be talking to someone and then there will be silence, yet I am still connected. Now, I fully realize this is probably a service area issue, but when I look at my bars during this silence, I am at 2-3 bars. I am considering switching back, but I do like the new functionality of this OS. I am curious to know if this is OS related. Has anyone been having this same issue?

speculating
i *fear* that tmo may be updating thier "system upgrade" link for the Pearl, which possibly means a new OS rollout.....
strictly speculation, as the link appears to come up listing nothing under "Available Downloads"

Haha, too funny. This is the reason that, after installing this update, I went back to the Cingular 4.2.0.89 release. Well, that and the multi-tap issues and the My Faves crappiness and the general slowness. So to answer your question, no, that is not fixed in this release.

The link is working now and is showing Handheld Software (4.2.0.64) still.
EDIT: Actually I see where you are talking now. There is no link under Available downloads. When I am logged into My T-Mobile it still has .64 up.
