Go outside into an open area. Then go to Options >Advanced Options >GPS and Refresh the GPS. You may need to do it a few times. If you still don't get a GPS fix there in the GPS options, then remove the battery and reinsert and try again.

Mine took a while to get a fix the first time, but since then, I've had no problems with it. As the previous post stated, an open area or possibly even a window might help with satellite locating.

Also check the application permissions. I haven't had any problems with Poynt, Google maps, Google mobile or BTSidekick.

Make sure you look in he GPS & Map section. We have a yellow sticky there with reviews of many of the map apps.

As for getting it going, most has been said already.

Make sure that you have a BB data plan. Make sure "Location Services" is "ON".

Make sure that you are outside, with a clear view of the sky. I have found that it is quicker and easier if you install Google Maps and let it use cell tower triangulation to locate you with 1700 to 2500 meters as GPS locks on. This lets the GPS know where to look for satellites and which ones to look for. It can take 20 minutes or longer to get a good fix.

Any time I'm having trouble, I just go to Options > Advanced Options > GPS, open the menu and select Refresh GPS.

I usually get a lock within 10 seconds.
