I use the .42 Beta on my 8100 and it works fine & fast. But two things should be fixed from RIM: The camera is too dark and the LED-camera-light doesn't work and the EDGE/GPRS/GSM turns off/on automaticly.

pretty much just installed this for the new media player (and because it's new and new things are fun)

so far so good. i have no problems so far with (a quick test of) the media player. when are you guys that are having trouble with it, experiencing issues? all the time? or just once in a while?

the camera is pretty screwed up, inside it's really dark (even with every light in the house on) and outside it's way too bright. like a white screen most of the time. i don't use my camera very often, but on occasion i do and this will be a problem in the future.

docs to go is interesting, i'll have to try it out one day :P

also a minor thing i didn't like was that the precision zen theme i installed works, but when going to the main icon screen, it changes the time/date/EDGE/etc. banner back to default, which is minor, but an annoyance nonetheless.

that being said i like the new OS, it's pretty fast (after some initial hourglasses in the media stuff - which i find always happens on a new install), the improved suretype with full word suggestions is nice. so far so good, we'll see how it goes after a week or so

i didn't even try colorpearl, on account of reading that it just flat-out doesn't work. but i do have a question regarding some way to brighten my pearl up? that's all i used colorpearl for anyway, just a white pearl still, but much brighter. is this possible in any setting somewhere?

Installed it on a T-Mobile branded Pearl 8100 yesterday and it sucked. It was very slow, almost unusably so with frequent reboots.

i have a T-mobile Pearl also...and it works ok...it was a bit slow the night that i installed it...but the next morning everything was ok...typing was easier...(i don't use suretype coz sometimes i type in my native language) and it doesn't mess up the letters anymore unlike with the previous version.

Media player is nicer had no problems with that.

only thing i miss is Colorpearl...since it didn't work on this version

and as said before the camera...which takes dark bluish pics indoors and just plain white screen outside...sucks now since my wife is out of the country and she has my real camera...but it's ok.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100)

Wasn't there supposed to be a way to keep the backlight on while charging?

I dunno about this particular version. It's SLOW. It has some wierdness. If you haven't upgraded yet, don't. Wait till this version is fixed up a bit more.

Question for ther experts: Now with this new OS on the phone, why do the red and blue LEDS come on and stay on solid?

I've used both .37 and .42 beta (currently on my 8100 still) and I've gotten better performance results by wiping the phone completely before updating. Even with .37, I did not wipe it, and my LED would stay RED the whole time, 24/7. I wiped the phone, reinstalled .37 and LED worked properly after that.

.42 seems to have fixed the Browser issue, having trouble entering text in a field. But camera is still screwed up!!! that's the only thing for me that needs to be fixed, it works really fast and smooth. Also 3rd party custom themes get rearranged when you click the menu key, I hope they fix it, instead of having every theme out there rewritten.

dont have many, but all my 3rd party apps work fine, Google Maps, BBWeather, Beyond 411, and the new flickr app works good too.

ColorPearl doesn't work with 4.5. You'll need to remove it as it will cause other issues with OS 4.5...like the notifier led will come on and stay on, etc.

As stated already... wiping completely then installing .37 will fix freezing and lagging issues.. as for the camera.. its a small price to pay while waiting for the official release.. i have been running .37 for 2 days and only issues have been the entering text on the browser (which happens rarely) and the dum camera..

but the os runs much faster and works great... for those wanting to keep the today plus theme.. don't wipe out your bb and just upgrade.. when i first updated my today plus theme stayed, but when i blanked it today and installed fresh.. it will not install..

I'm still a bit of a n00b with the BB. How does one remove applications?

*didn't use the search button very well*

can the themes on 4.2 be used on 4.5? Its late and I rushed into upgrading the OS even though I was sleepy...not such a great idea now that I think of it.

I have found this problem in just about every build except for .18, no matter what you do this problem will not go away, I would suggest going back to .18 if you have it, if not 4.2 until we get an official TMobile build.
