At thia time I'd say hoping for a QNX smartphone is out of the question. RIM wouldn't spend so much time and effort on OS6 just to replace it a year down the line.
The biggest advantage of the QNX OS is that it scales up on CPU cores. They release a pad with 4 cores, and the OS needs no upgrade to performa better.
On the smartphone side, I believe we're just starting to see dual-core processors, and Marvell just announced a tri-core smartphone cpu a few days back.
RIM needs some bigger hardware upgrades on their smartphones before completely scrapping OS6.
It's just an opinion and I have no actual facts for it, but I think that's how it would roll. ;)
