Default Problem w/16GB Sandisk Micro SD in 8220

Please Login to Remove!

I just received a brand new Sandisk 16GB micro SD card. When I put it in my BB 8220 and format it, the card only shows 967.2MB available, a far cry from 16GB capacity. The micro sd says it's a 16GB sdhc chip right on it... so I'm really confused.

I'm sure there's some simple setting I'm missing, but can anyone point me to it? I've searched the forum and come up empty, or I'm missing the right key words to search for.

Some basic info...
  • OS is up to date (4.6.0.180)
  • Media Card Support is Enabled
  • Mass Storage Mode Support is On
  • Rebooted w/bat removed

Thanks in advance... I'm hating this. I was looking forward to having 16GB on my phone for music and photos...

-Roger

Does it also show 1 GB on a PC or it shows the whole 16 GB?

Could be a print error... 16GB - 1GB but that would totally suck...

I have an 8 GB SanDisk Card that works great and wanted to use a 16... but lets hope this is an isolated problem.... good luck

Problem is, the only card I DON'T have a reader for is SD/microSD, even though the card came with a micro SD->SD adapter.

Twice, though? I bought two cards (in sealed, original SanDisk packaging) from a reputable eBay vendor. I put the second card in my wife's 8120 and when it detected the card, it asked to format it. I let it format her card too, and it came up 967.2MB. There HAS to be something I'm missing, I just don't know what that is...

Thanks,

-R

I have a 16gb microsd card in my flip and it works well without any problem, as long as you use the flip to format it, not pc, especially not in ntfs format.

Hi,

That 16GB card would not work anymore with the phone. I would suggest that you replace that card. When you receive the new one then first format it on PC before using it in the Flip Phone.

Hi, I'm new to BB and the flip; i thought you could only use a 2 G Media Card. Here in
Buenos aires they only sell 8 G media cards. can I just buy one and put it in my flip ?
What is this formatting issue ? Thanks in advance
