Is this the standard case that comes with the device? Is the case too tight on the device pushing in keys? It will wear down the battery slightly, but if its in a standard RIM case the magnet should turn off the screen quickly as to not drain too much.

Oy, I never even welcomed you ... WELCOME!!!

... ok back to business ... I haven't noticed any problems with 81xx series device cases and them randomly turning on. but if you do push the case in where the keys are it will activate the screen. I guess the only way to avoid this is to either be more gentle with the case, ignore it, or don't put the case somewhere where it will get pushed in easily. The only time I ever have issues is when I put a bb in a pair of jeans; never a problem with slacks or khaki's ... or backpacks / bags.

Mine did that for a little while. Remember to have the phones trackball in the groove designed for it. Also I softened mine up a little to keep if from pushing buttons. Just do it like a baseball glove and work it with your hands really well.

Just yank the battery out while the device is on, and wait a few minutes. VOILA!! Fixed.

Welcome to the forums... I'm fairly new myself but the information found here is invaluable! Also make sure the keys face the leather band on top of the case. The additional piece of leather helps to keep the case off the keys. Hope this helps.

Place the BB in the case facing INWARD, toward the belt loop if a holster style.

I know this should not matter, and some of the newer cases have the (channel) on both sides of the case, but you will find numerous threads on this forum where users had your identical issue, and it was solved by placing the BB in the case facing IN, not out.

Good luck, and yes, welcome to the BBF.
