Default Applications running in the background...

Is there a way I can check how many applications are running in the background. I sometimes open a lot of apps but don't know if I closed them and I'm sure that could slow the phone down. Thanks

Hold down Alt and press the Escape key (on the right, next to the trackball).

There are 5 apps that you can't close. Home, BB Messenger, Browser, Phone, and Messages.

Awesome that worked for me, thanks. One last question, is there an easier way to close an app, like a hot key? Take my mac for instance, I just press CMD+Q and I'm out out of the app.

just use the escape key, this will close the app (cept with google maps, you have to go menu and exit)

Actually, there are a lot of apps that will not close when you press the escape key. The best way is to press menu, close on all apps.

Oh, only one ive found it doesnt work with (cept those we know will always be open) is google maps.
Facebook, WLM, any other pre-loaded bold app all close when using the escape key.
