yeah, you'll be there for a while at the progress bar. It took almost an hour to get past the progress bar when I upgraded my boss's phone.
Funny, because we are on bes, it seems to take longer than usual to activate and sync up.

mine seems pretty solid so far... after using it this weekend. has anyone noticed this weird behavior tho?? occassionally when I two-way someone, the chirp goes thru, then as they are trying to responde, the radio portion of my phone goes off. The signal meter will go completely to "off." If I press the two-way botton again, phone asks if I want to "turn radio on?" Press yes to that, then after about a 30sec recycle the phone is back on. Really annoying.... it was doing it so bad with my prior 8350i, I had to get a new one.. this one has only done it a few times so far, but still there.
Let me know if anyone has heard of this one..

zoo - you need to charge the phone first. I got the same thing last time I tried to upgrade. Charged the phone overnight and it worked like a charm.

Updated almost a week ago and haven't had any troubles yet ... if you are having trouble with any app ... just download again ... even if it's the same version and you'll be fine ... still some tweaks here and there, but guess we'll have to wait till they fix them ... all in all ... everything looks, feels and works much smoother ...

Hello!
For the Nextel Mexico users...
Do you have this problem?
Since smart dialing option its no available when you select +52 on the smart dialing options (phone options - smart dialing), if a contact calls from a land line, the name does not show up, only the number. For example, you have a contact on your contact list with phone "52808182", callerid shows "5552808182"... but not his name.
Did you tried that? If a cel calls "04455..." since you probably has the 04455 on your contact list... yup, it shows the name.

Any comments are welcome!

Regards.

Default This versin is not meant for the NEXTEL 8350i

So I downloaded the 5.0 software. OEM DM could not find it, which leads me to believe it's not compatible with my devise! I’m using the NEXTEL version of the 8350i. So I use another NON-OEM software loader and it loads. No problems installing once the non-oem loader found it.

Here’s what I’ve noticed so far after a month of using the 5.0 version. 1) The unit reboots by itself some times several times a day. 2) The unit activates the speaker phone on it own during a conversation, impossible to take it off without ending the call. Try that during a meeting that you don’t want all to hear the conversation. 3) Ending a call usually generates the hour glass, like in windows waiting to end the call. No I don’t have any applications running. 4) It’s placed several phone numbers and actions into speed dial that are now locked and I can’t change. WTF! It’s my phone not Blackberry’s!! 5) Still no SMS feature, although the MMS works fine. 6) Wi-Fi cuts on and off without notice. 7) Battery usage is up, although I don’t exactly know how much the battery seems to drain much faster. 8) Signal strength seems to be less in some places and more in others? Don’t get that one at all. Then again that could be NEXTEL and not the software itself! 9) Dropped calls seem to be more regular. Always thought this was a 100% NEXTEL usual item if you were on the unlimited plan to get you off the airwaves sooner then later. 10) I do like the way it displays the name and number if you have more then one entry in the address book.

Default BES Activation?

So I see a few of you have activated on a BES. I decided to try out 5.0 on my 8350i today because I couldn't wait any longer for the official release to come out from Sprint-Nextel, yes it will be out soon...
After upgrading, I am in the middle of the BES activation and I am sending/receiving emails. It is now stuck at "Calendar" Complete and "Synchronization - 10%". It has done this several times. I pull the battery, then I need to restart the BES activation process and it gets stuck at this same point.
--> For the others here who have successfully activated the 8350i with OS 5.0 on a BES, did you have to wipe the phone first, delete service books etc. in order for the BES activation to complete?

Default BES Activation - Solved.

To answer my own question...
I simply had to remove and re-add my BES account on our server and it activated fine.
