Hi

I installed BES 5.0 for Exchange 207 on my win2003 system,which already had sql server 2005 sp2. I can successfully add or manage user in it. Now I want to use BES User Admin service and client (BESUserAdminService.exe and BESUserAdminclient.exe). For it I installed BESUserAdminService.exe which I was previously using for BES 4.1.6 and it installed successfully but service never started, always giving error. EventViewer says that 'inavlid database' or something like that

What could be the problem? I searched this (BEsUSerAdminService and client) for BES 5.0 but no success. Can anyone help me on this?

You need to use the UserAdminService/Client for 5.0

Select 5.0 from the dropdown box and then download BlackBerry Enterprise Server User Administration Tool v5.0.0 for Microsoft Exchange

So can we use command base BESUserAdminClient.exe to manage BB users on BES 5.0? I thought Interface has now changed to manage BES 5.0 and RIM has now provided Web Services for that?

Yes, you can. While RIM has provided an API that can also be used to interface; the legacy UserAdminService/Client has been included with 5.0 also.

You need to use the UserAdminService/Client for 5.0

So if I install this Enterprise Resource Kit 5.0, will it install also UserAdminService/Client for 5.0 or I have to install it separately (like i did for bes 4.1.6) ?

How to install it from Enterprise Resource Kit 5.0? or Where to find UserAdminService/Client for BES 5.0? I got UserAdminService/Client separetly for 4.1.6 but i m not sure i downloaded entire ERK 4.0 for that.

If you've done the 4.1.6 UserAdminService install the 5.0 will be similiar; it is a separate component from the rest of the Resource Kit.

When I selected the 'BRK 5.0' it give me various download option and I chose

It is a part of this MSI package ... I should have said the operation of the two is similar but the installation is different.

Hi,

|I have installed BES USer Admin Tool (BESUserAdminService and BESUSerAdminClient) on my BES 5 from Blackberry Resource Kit 5.0.

I just ran it gave url of admin service and installed it.

After installation I ran this command to generate BESUserAdminClient password.

BESUserAdminClient -set_client_auth "-username admin -password adminPwd -bas_auth" -set_p clientPwd

It ran ok then.
