Ok,

I'm a first time blackberry user, and i just got the 8800. I like how customizable it is but i'm having a hard time finding a lot of things. Can someone answer my questions?:

1) When reading through the 8800 posts in this forum, everyone refers to Options ---> blah ---> blah. I don't see an "options" from my desktop. Where is this options section?

2) I have a pc and a mac at home, and i use the mac more often. Is the desktop manager for pc better than pocketmac? whats the difference/stability? please only reply if you've actually used both. thanks

3) I have BES and my work email is all set up. Where do i go to get setup for my email from yahoo/gmail/aim/et? thanks.

4) i used to have a treo 650, and i liked how the phone would lock after it sleeps because when in my pocket, buttons constantly get pressed. Can you set something like this up on the 8800?

5) I get massive amounts of email from work. Can i set no notifications for email from work, but notifications from personal emails and text messages?

1) Depending on the theme, it will be called Options or Settings...usually a wrench or similar symbol.

2) Might try the Mac forum here on the site. Many Mac questions have been answered there by actual Mac users. Desktop Manager won't run on a Mac, fyi, and isn't a PIM, as I believe PocketMac is.

3) Easiest way is to log in to your carrier's BIS website. For Cingular, it's: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=mycingular

4) There should be a keylock button on your home screen. You can also set your convenience key to do this.

5) Notification options can be found under your profiles. Edit the profile to change notification for specific items.

1) there is no options or settings. there is the blackberry setup folder which has setup wizard, personal email setup and blue tooth setup.

im just using the regular theme that you start with.

hmm, on the main screen of the Blackberry, options folder should be there. Is it a new BB? The Options folder could be hidden? Hold down ALT and click and select SHOW ALL if possible?

that was weird. the show all got it to show up. anyway i can make this not hidden anymore? thanks.

After you do the show all, go to the icon, press the BB menu button again and uncheck hide application.

when i go to the profiles to change the notifications settings for my work email, it does not have an option for zero vibrates or rings, only 1,2, and 3. any other ideas to get around this?

Yes. Choose "Mute" under Volume, and/or "None" under in/out of holster.
