Hey when I was in the Device Application Selection, it said 'The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator.' What is this?

I was wondering if anyone has installed 4.6.0.216 on an unlocked Bold on 02-UK carrier, I need to know if its worth it before taking the plunge.

Question, does the updating of OS change the service books?

No, the upgrade backs up and restores your SBs.

If I unplug the router it stops working. I can see the data in the router is actually being transferred plus the wi-fi led on the router flashes with the download,

So wi-fi is definately working yet there is no wi-fi icon "lit" and the connection screen shows no "check". I am using WEP and my router sees it connected. I've also done a battery pull.

Very weird. So if you think your wi-fi isn't working on .216 it very well may be.
See previous posts. Check to see if security needs to be re-enabled. Or just delete the profile and re-create it and it should work.

Ok Thanks.
Another question then, If I upgrade to an OS that isn't from my own carrier, will my browser be changed? Ex: I have web n walk as the browser, because Im tmobile UK. will the upgrade change this to the normal BB browser? or is that part of the service books which determines what the broswer actually is.

id like to have the latest stable OS but dont really want to lose any of my carriers stuff.

If there is an icon there for Web 'n' Walk then yes that migth disappear however the BB Browser will still be able to fulfil most requirements - the only difference upgrading software is that carrier-specific icons (For Example O2 has Gameloft and Orange have Orange World) might disappear.

If you are on T-Mobile, in case you don't already know, go to: -

BlackBerry Internet Service

The above link allows you to manage or set-up any email address and also re-send Service Books in case the Software Update deletes them...

Im hoping that it wont delete the service books, as I had to get tmobile to send the corrrect ones for the BB browser and BB maps to work, but I do know about BIS on tmobile for email, and the email service books.

I am assuming that if I upgrade and have problems, I can go back to the original OS?

The Service Books that T-Mobile send out are the EXACT SAME ones that you can re-send through the above link so you don't need to worry if it does delete them or not - some OS updates do, some don't (in my experience anyways...)

You can always revert back to the original OS version however i weouldn't recommend it as OS Version 4.6.0.216 is the best one so far in terms of stability, reliability and performance

From what I know those service books are only for the email?
I tried sending those service books originally and still couldn't use the BB Maps until I called the tech guy, who sent through what i *assumed* was the right service books for it. As I'd googled about the problem and someone had the exact same problem, mentioning the service books.

Im having no problems with .162, but then, unless I upgrade, Ive no idea what would be better/worse.

But thanks for the help. I'll think about upgrading.

Default .216 = .41 ?

I've already upgrade to .216, but when i types "myver " on messenger, it's shown "9000/4.6.0.41"
But if I look at "about", it show v4.6.0.216
Why this happen?

Does anybody have this installed with unlocked themes from the blackberry.alx file?
Just wanted to know the names of all the themes it unlocks.
As Iv found that my web n walk icon for browser is theme dependant, i.e. use only other theme and its a normal browser icon, use my t-mobile carrier theme and its a web n walk icon.

Because the core OS is 4.6.0.216, but the version for the messenger is actually 4.6.0.41. for example, my OS is .162, and my messenger version is 4.6.0.35.

Its like having a version of 8.5 windows live messenger on you windows vista pc.
the OS is for core systems, the messenger is like an add on, and its current version is nothing to do with the current version of the OS.

I have .35 messenger, which means you have a better version of messenger with .41.

i got help updating from bold standard .167 to .216

so far very good. the handheld's operations seem faster, glitchy Wi-Fi is now much more solid and reliable, battery bars take much longer to go down, and no perceived change on cell phone part (good before and after)

very pleased

I get the same thing after upgrading to .216, but didn't see it on earlier releases. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
