Default Story with Bluetooth car kits?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, returning to this subject, as its not been solved.

My Bold won't work with my old Nokia 616 car kit, so I got a brand new Nokia one, and it doesn't workj with that either.

With the new one, all seems to work OK, the devices pair, then the kit says 'Phone Connected' ....'phone disconnected' and that's that.

Nor does it work with either of my Garmin sat navs.

The local Vodafone shop say they know this, and are recommended to only sell BT car kits made by 'Bury' (never heard of them), one they have is a stand alone one, which I don't want, and the other is an integrated one for 199 Euro which you can't install yourself, an 'expert' has to supply and fit it.

Last time an 'expert' fitted a car kit to my girlfriend's car he made a right mess of it.

This is bad news.

Is there ANYONE on this board who is successfully using a Bold with any form of integrated Bluetooth car kit please?

Thanks

Andy

Can't give you info about this, but found the company they were on about.

I read on another forum that lots of people have this problem.

Well maybe I've sorted it out!

Options | Bluetooth | (select paired device) Menu > Options

I noticed thatunder 'services', the only one that was ticked was Serial Port Profile.

'Headset' and 'Handsfree' were not selected. So I selected them, saved, exited out, then got my car kit to 'connect'.

It worked! I tested it by making and receiving a cal

It seems the BB doesn't automatically switch on the 'handsfree' profile in Bluetooth when it gets a connection, or maybe the connecting device isn't instructing it to.

However it seems that by manually turning it on its working!

Glad you got this sorted out, I wish I had seen this thread sooner.

For anyone else looking at integrated devices, Bury and Parrot make two top-flight setups that I have used before.

I use the THB System 8 kit, you only need to change the cradle if you change your phone. Fone Junkie - Affordable Mobile Phone Accessories

I have the Motorola IHF-1000 kit in my car an it connects automatically every time. Sound quality is very good and it will speed dial as well as dial by voice reliably.

You can find this at direct.motorola.com/ens/carkits/index.html

I'll vouch for the Parrot MK6100. It also supports A2DP audio streaming, so I can also play my music through it.

Using with factory Audi BT and a Becker Grand prix in my Renault.

For automatic connection make sure the device is set as "trusted" in the bluetooth options.

I use my Bold with a Sony Ericsson HCB-700. Works perfectly except for the address book which does not work with my Bold so it only shows the number of who is calling and not the name.
