Do you have pictures or media on the device memory?

The storm has a decent device memory. Especially compared to the older devices.

When I had my 9530 I was never above 30mb free. I didnt have a lot of apps installed and just had to watch it.
Over 20mb free should be good.

i got nothing stored to device memory. everything is on the media card. but isnt the device memory different from the application memory?

I get probably abt 23 MB free at most after a hard restart and then i get killer memory leak to about 12 MB. Whats up with that?

I would install the latest OS.

And check the application switch (by holding down the menu key) to see what apps are running. Running apps can kill file free real quick.

My phone doesn't have a lot of free memory either. I did remove some of the programs that I don't use that often and am now at 26 mb. I think what would be wounderful is if RIM asked all of us to return our phones and then they could install a larger chip for the memory instead of us having to replace our phones. I know for myself, I would be more than happy to do that if I could get more app. memory. With the newer OS the phones are working pretty decently except for the losing of memory so quickly. JMO
