Article on the AP released by RIM.
The Canadian Press: RIM says some customers in North America affected by outage

My T-MO rep had no idea about it either.

Nobody can guarantee 100% uptime, regardless of their revenue numbers. It's just impossible.
RIM's uptime percentage is absurdly high and your comments are ridiculous.

I am not sure it is as ridiculously high as you might think. If they have 98% uptime (which I suspect they don't) they can only be down for 7 days total in a 365 day year. I am certain I've been without working BIS for at least half that over the past 9 months when all the outages are added up. 98% uptime isn't all that impressive for a massive company.

Exactly, they have always been there for me and it is very rare they will have these outages.

Default BIS down - North Jersey

BIS still down here in Northern New Jersey. Last emails were received this morning at 6am.

BBM, Browser, and all other data applications are fully functional. I am also able to log into my VZW BIS account online...just no emails are being delivered.

Oh really. Would you be happy to be a Sidekick owner with all your information stored on the Microsoft Danger Servers..only to have all your precious data lost during a routine maintenance... I'd say that BlackBerry BIS is a lot more reliable... know your facts before making such uninformed posts.

This is the final straw! I can't take this anymore . I am going back to my RAZR! I have NEVER had an email outage when I used it! RIM needs to take notes from Motorola!

What facts did I get incorrect? I wasn't complaining about the outage. They happen. It's a fact of life. I was just talking about what uptime/downtime actually means. For example, Google offers 99.9% uptime or better which is 8 hours of down time a year. It was just a statement.

98% would roughly equate to 168 total hours of downtime.
There's no way in hell there has been 168 hours of outages in the past calendar year.
I suspect the actual uptime number is higher than 98%.
