Default Enterprise Activation stuck at 90%

Please Login to Remove!

I just installed BES & Exchange 2003 and I have connected my handheld via USB to the server. When I send the activation, it initializes & completes everything except:

Address Book
Email Filters
Email Settings
Memos
Tasks

These are left "Initializing." Any tips for getting to the bottom of this?

Thanks in advance,

kjohn

Are you having only one user to test or do you have any other?

First check with the other handheld and see if the problem occurs

I would suggest you to wipe the handheld and do a enterprise activation over the air... Let me know if this resolves.

Interesting. Same issue here. Got some 8700's and both of them got stuck at 90% on the enterprise activation. Running the latest BES out so far.

Ok try this. if u have the chance of doing a manula synch do the manaul synch once and then resend the Policy ensure the Policy is applied succesfully...
Once this is done...... then set an manaul enterprise activation and see if it gets through... I have seen problems with the policies causing this and wiping the handheld did solve the problem and in the other hand with the policy succesfully resent u shud be able to do it... let me know

Actually that was the first thing I tried. When stuck at 90 I cancelled it, disabled wireless sync. Did a manual sync, then re-enabled wireless sync. It then completed the activation but wireless sync isn't working now. So changing the address book doesn't sync the change over even though on the server it has it enabled.
I think my next step will have to be a wipe and reload. But that stinks if I have to do that for everyone.

I was having a similar issue.
BB handheld was paused at 87%, Address book, calendar, anyting that resides on the Exchange server was reported Initializing.

It turned out to be a permissions issue. The user was moved to a new storage group. The bes service account did not have the correct permissions to the new storage group, information store or the user's mailbox.

I fixed thoses issues and the handheld sync'd up just fine.

I hope this helps.

You may also want to try Restarting the Sync Service. This should have nothing to do with IT Policies unless you've enabled the "Disable all wireless sync" policy.

I just had the same problem with my new 8700. It ended up being something in my address book. I cleared the device. copied my outlook contacts out of my mailbox. Activated. Then moved them back. All is well. I have an open TSupport ticket, but they weren't much help on this one. BTW, I am Win2k SP4. BES 4 SP3.

For what is worth, we had no problems at all with GroupWise 7, BES and 8700c.

For what it's worth, I've double-checked my permissions and they seem to be ok. Any ideas?

In my Sync log, I have the following:
[46031] (11/28 20:25:11):{0x1274} [SYNC-DSession] Submit XML request to DevMgmt connector. [Kjohn S:1]
[46055] (11/28 20:25:11):{0x1278} [SYNC-DSession] DevMgmt connector responded FAILED_TO_BACKUP_DATA for Add on Handheld Agent, return ERROR_RETRY_OPERATION to the device. [Kjohn S:1, SID=1507191708, CLID=6, ECLID=3, TB=1]

Looks like a wipe did the trick. Thanks guys! The activation completed successfully. I did notice that weird line about the backup program.

Thanks for the tip. I am currently at 4.0.3 and will install the latest hotfix for BES (4.0.3 Hotfix 1).

you may want to try just restarting the Blackberry Synch service rather than rebooting the entire server.

Lotus or Exchange....funny story / kind of careless...Mine was stuck initializing and check all services, did EVERYTHING humanly possible between handheld and server OS and logs....turns out that the heirarchial OU was different...NY and NYC which was causing this--Check BB Server Manager configuration.

With GW BES, I've noticed that especially if you are running MSDE with more than 50 users, it will stop at this point, and depending on the email options, calendar entries and all that, it can take hours sometimes to get to 100% from there.

When we had this problem, I would let the device get to that point, then minimize the window and hand the device over to the user. If it had not finished activating by morning, we would manually re-activate the device wirelessly.

I had a similar problem, for me its users who use to have Palms syncing with their Lotus Notes and recurring calendar entries, Palm messes up the recurring entries.
Usually I just delete them all and it syncs much quicker. It will complete without removing the entries but the users use about 4 times as much data a month as the syncronization runs.

I have a similar problem with only one user. He has a BB 8700c and the wireless sync gets stuck in the Address Book. We are running BES 4.0 SP1 with Exchange 5.5. I disabled wireless sync for his Address Book for now. Any suggestions?
