Unhappy Dove in water with BB in my pocket

Please Login to Remove!

After i dove in the water with my 8300 in my pocket, i tried tuning it on to see it didnt work. Now it has been three days that i left it to dry and when i turn it on the red light blinks but theres no light at all. The screen is barely visible even though there is no light. Can someone please tell me anything i can do?

I agree with NJ. You are probably too late. BBs and wet do not mix whatsoever.

This is nothing against you cboodhoo, but I just don't understand why people turn ON their device after it takes a swim. Seems so completely wrong.

One theory is that they panic and turns them on to make sure it still works.

Yep and with electricity and water that pretty much seals the deal.

The correct thing to do with any electronics if they get wet is immediately turn it off.

Turning it on is like turning off the electricity in your house, putting your finger in the light socket, and turning the electricity back on with your finger still in it lol

Way back I had a Nokia that I kept turning on after trying to dry it out. Then after looking online for advice I really let it dry out and it ended up working again. But then a year or so later I had work in New Orleans and over a week I could tell the humidity was killing it off as the display was fading, but I had to keep it on for work.

By the end of the week it was dead. So it is not impossible to save things after being impatient, but there still may be damage there.

After my daughter dropped hers in the toilet, for the umpteenth time, I tried a heat gun on low setting. Got it nice and warm, but not so hot as to burn it up. After about a half hour of this it started working again. She had turned it on many times in the meantime.

In case you haven't used one, a heat gun is a tool (as in get it at the tool dept. at Sears, for example) that looks a little like a hair dryer, but puts out serious heat. It's used to heat parts when a torch would be dangerous or too concentrated. You have to be very careful if you try this, as it would be so easy to just flat out melt the thing! The trick is to keep the heat gun back away from the BB, and work it back and forth so as to apply heat gradually.

And be careful of your hands and other stuff in the immediate area!
