I'm wondering whether or not ANYONE at all has been able to use a 7100t in a 2005 Prius. I just got both the Prius and the 7100t, and I have not gotten them to acknowledge each other yet. My Toyota dealer has been of little help, and has said that he is told that "no PDA phone works with Bluetooth". What I need to know, I think, is what steps are actions are necessary to initiate Bluetooth service or recognition on the Prius? Thus far, the car seems to display no Bluetooth "presence" and the 7100t can't "find" the car, even though it finds other Bluetooth devices.

get the motorola hf 850. it works.

I doubt dennis will want to get an HF850 since the Prius has a MACDADDY car kit built in.

Dennis I call BS on your dealer... there are a number of kits that would work - one mentioned above. I'm not familiar with the Toyota pairing procedure... on the 7100 go to options | Bluetooth and choose options... select Yes on the Discoverable entry and save. It's likely the Toyota will have to have a similar procedure done. Then (still in Bluetooth options on the BB) select add device and the BB will begin searching.

Sometimes the OS on the 7100 has to be upgraded before the Bluetooth starts working very well. (i.e. 4.0.0.198 rather than 3.8.0.128 ) ... But try the other tips first.

Thanks, everyone. Mark, I checked the software version and it is 4.0.0.198, so that should be ok. On the others, are suggesting that I need an additional kit of some sort? If I do, I'll get one, but this is the first I've heard of it. I'm sorry to be so dense, but this is all entirely new to me. I really like the idea of having a built in MACDADDY, though.

In the infamous words of Emily Latella, "Never mind". I finally looked in the separate manual for the Navigation system, and there were great instructions for initializing the Prius Bluetooth. It is now cooperating beautifully with my 7100t.

for prius questions you might also get some help at priusonline.com, there are a lot of tech-savvy people there including some aftermarket mfgs. I've got an '05 and any time I have a prius related-question I've found a solution there.
