Default Emails that should be in a folder...

Please Login to Remove!

We're running BES 4.1.7 for GroupWise. After installing SP7, we're seeing a weird issue with email showing up on the Blackberry that should not be on the Blackberry.

For example, an inbound email arrives to GroupWise, there is a rule to move that email into a folder, and GroupWise routes that email to a folder. Even though GroupWise routes the email to a folder, it still pops up on the Blackberry. This is annoying for users that have listservs routing into folders. They don't want all of those emails on their Blackberry.

Now for the weirder part. If you open one of these emails on the Blackberry, it opens normally. When you close it, it disappears from the message view. It seems to realize that it's not supposed to be there.

Has anyone seen anything like this? If so, is there a way to fix it?

Thanks,
Joe

Turn off the redirection for the folder that those messages are being filed into.

Redirection for those folders has never been enabled. For example, it's even doing it for our "Junk Mail" folder.

It also seems to know that the email doesn't belong because as soon as you open the email, it disappears from the Blackberry.

Check the redirections settings, please. (From BES, and the Handheld itself.) If redirection for those folders wasn't enabled, the message would never get delivered to the handheld in the first place.

Secondly, it disappears because the handheld has the 'Hide Filed Messages' setting checked off.
Once the message is read, it will disappear from the list.

Ok, I checked two of the phones having the issue. One is OS6 and the other is OS7. Both had nothing checked off in the folder redirection screen. I looked through the server and I can't seem to find the folder redirection settings. I'm following a Blackberry TID and it is not where they say it is... Obviously, I've never touched those settings since I don't know where they are.

Yes, the "Hide Filed Messages" setting is enabled. And, it works as designed. It's just not hiding them initially. It's almost like the Blackberry is syncing the email prior to GroupWise running the rule. I might try to upgrade the GroupWise client on the server. Maybe that will help...?

That's normal behaviour. It will show them as long as they are "un-read" or "not opened". This will not change if you upgrade Groupwise.

But you should really find the redirected folders on the BES and check them. As a standard, only the Inbox and the Sent Items are checked, but the user or the administrator can change this.

The rules you are talking about, are they server-side (i.e. do they also work when the Groupwise client is shut down)?
