Default Just got a 9000 - but nothing else!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I have just been given a 9000 although nothing came with it.
I would like to ask what I need to get going; I've just ordered a charger for it but what other accessories are essential to use this.
I also need to clear it of all its contents; how is this done and do I need software?

Thanks for your support.

How was this "given" to you? From your employer? From a friend, relative, person on the street?

Welcome to the forums.

Where did you get this device? From a 3rd party (Ebay, Craigslist, etc)?
If so, follow these steps: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

We see lots of threads where people find lost devices and claim them as their own. I don't know if this is the case or not. Using my better judgment, I am not going to give any further information until I know for sure that this is not the case. I hope you understand.

How exactly do you plan knowing "for sure" js? Maybe we should have him presenting a signed affidavit that he legally owns the handset. Or we can ask for a sworn statement under penalty of perjury from his buddy that he actually passed the handset over. Then the can of worms pops open and we need to make sure he had legal ownership to start with in order to legally supply it to a third party entity.

A 10 year old can change "I found/was given said handset and have problem XYZ" to "I ebay'd/craiglisted said handset and have problem XYZ".

A 10 year old can also register another account and post 48 hours later. The whole approach to the issue of stolen property in the forums and Colombo interrogations in search of a handset's history are plain ludicrous, useless, and borderline psychotic.

Get insurance on your handsets and protect you property. If they get lost/stolen call the carrier and block them then use your policy and replace them and move on.

Personally i wouldn't really lose my sleep knowing someone picked my handset of a parking lot. Access to my information now would have me turning in bed but BES comes handy for this part.

To the OP: Use the FAQ for instructions on how to restore the handset.

Download the User Guide for your device and read it. Also look at our FAQ and peruse the 9000 section.

I'm assuming that the phone came with a battery, correct? How about a sim card? What carrier are you going to use to activate it? You can always restore to factory defaults, but does the phone have any logo on it like AT&T, Sprint, Verizon? Really if you just have the phone, battery, Sim card, and a charger that's all you need. Things like headphones, Bluetooth devices, media cards, holster, USB cable for your computer, are all nice but not necessarily needed. Keep looking around the site like I have and search some forum threads.
