So I have seen posts in the forums of people having a BB w/out a data plan and using wifi when available for them.

When I got my 8130 from VZW, they told me that a BB data plan was required with the phone. I was wondering if:

a) they were just pulling my leg to get another sell...
b) VZW requires a data plan with BBs
c) the pearl cannot run w/out a data plan

I figured it has to be one of those. Which one is it?

verizon requires a bb plan no matter what.

You need to get a data plan when you buy a blackberry from Verizon. Also, Verizon BlackBerry devices are not WiFi capable.

Wow I know that ALL of the blackberries use to require a data plan, but now is it only verizon that requires it? And what if you get it then get home with your blackberry and want to remove it.... I hate shifty stuff like that... damn

they will remove it for you but they will also shut the phone off for it too. It is required no matter what
