Hello All,

I am about to travel to NYC (from Toronto) and instead of using my Rogers service on my Bold and pay roaming charges and faint when I see my bill…

I would like to know if and how can I get my Bold to work on say AT&T’s Pay As You Go type of plan.

I know I will need to get my Bold Unlocked, but I just don’t know what to from there??

Where can I get a Pay As You Go sim card? (eBay)

How do buy minutes and use/input them in my phone? (eBay)

I am not sure if this is even possible or if I just sound like a moron with my request. I also realize I will probably lose my data, but I will have my laptop to access mail and the web. Unless my Wi-Fi will still work??

You can unlock it and get a Pay As You go SIM at and AT&T Store. You will not have BlackBerry Data. Only voice and text.

Not as Pay As You Go, I know here in California the store FYE sells Pay As You Go phones for $20 that include $10 credit. You could just pick one of those up and move the SIM over.

one other thing though when i put the AT&T sim card in will it ask me to put in a code to activate the minutes I bought?

I am not sure but I will send EzRunner over here who is the AT&T expert.

No once your BB is unlocked it wil work on the prepay with no probem


I suggest going to a corporate ATT

they will ask for an address to set up acct. just use the hotels addy. the store can add the minutes without you having to dea with a PIN code

Perfect... one last thing though if I were to purchase a pay as go sim card and minutes card from eBay... would this work and avoid the process of having to visit an AT&T store?

Yes it would but i believe you will then have to call to get the acct activated
