Have you seen the Ramble Configurations thread? You might need to use Cingular ISP settings and you may need to check with Cingular to make sure your account has the proper settings.

Try port 80 instead of 8080. Worked for me. Thanks for all you do Rambler. YOU THE MAN.

Tried the old Nextel configurations and I still only get 3 people on my buddy list tops, everyone else who sends is a "non-buddy" I do use Trillan but I do not change the names on it. And I always sign out of Trillian before I log into Ramble, also I am not on a BES.

Default still not working

Will call Cingular to make sure I have things set up right, maybe I am on of the cases where they need to make changes on their end. Thank you for the help and will keep you updated to any changes that make it work

jibi I too had no sound and a few problems, i however went ahead and changed the port to 5190, and the the network connection to use device TCP. That cleared most of the problems. The second thing i did was to make sure that I had turned trillian off at my pc because since it allows for two instances it runs into problems with message returns. As far as the sound, I too had no sound but for some reason when i made the changes above the sound started working, I do not know enough to know if changing from default to device TCP could be responsible for that but I a happy camper now.

Default Transcript of Cingular tech support call...

Below is a trasnscript of a relay call to cingular as I try to get the settings correct for Ramble. As you can see from the call, they dont know didly-squat about what they are talking about and even suggest we improve their own training!? IF you are a cingular customer, with a non-BES 7290 that works with ramble, please let me know your settings or whats wrong with this conversation below!

BEGINNING OF TRANSCRIPT

and what kind of device is this QQ and how may i help u QQ GA

blacky berry 7290 and I am trying to set up rambler instant
messenger on the device, seems I tried everything in the
blackberry forums and ive been told to check with cingular about
some port settings and making sure its configured properly on
cingular end... ok I have for TCP, wap.cingular for th4e APN
and [email address] all caps for the username for the
APN and for the password cingular1 again, all caps and for the
network connection I have use device TCP and for TOC host
and port, I have toc.oscar.aol.com:1290 but I also tried port
5190, 8080, and 80 but am not getting through ga

ok um the third party software u are trying to install is something
we do not support here at cingularwireless a lot of instant
messenger software for the blackberry have u have to be on
black berry enterprise server that allows a feature and must be to
have a feature enabled which is called m b s on ur profile on the
black berry enterprise surfer part 2 of what a lot of those forms
and website don t talk about there are also additional feature
to enable this svc will raise the price of ur bill GA

thats not correct, I know for a fact that it uses the unlimited data portion and this im program doesnt need the BES.. what I am
trying to do --and I know you dont support 3rd party software, is
simply makes ure my settings as they do relate to cingular are
correct ga

we have no settings for that software u are using and i m not
familiar how the software will function a lot of the other
requirements with the features with b e s enabled a lot of there
software s are out there and i don t know which software to be
used and the key with using with other wap features will raise ur
bill because those are pay per use charges GA

ok then all the other cingular blackberry users must be wrong
about things theyve posted on the forum, I'll have to post this
conversation so we can get the right information and dispell all
the different stories we keep getting from cingular.. ok thanks for
your support anyway ga ro sk

ok um sorry about the disparity on the forms because its not clear
because each software is set up differently i know there has been
changes on how the software works i don t um kill that whole line
i lost my train of thought um sorry about the confusion on the
form what people don t realize to add the function to the black
berry u must add to ur plan because they add to the cost
because those features don t add to ur current plan u cld
probably send a cingXXX a suggestion to cingular about using
particular piece of software and possibly give training and
knowledge on how to use that software GA

ok i will do that and I am sure there are other users out there with a lot of experience and we would all like to see cingular on
one page as to support and clarification of fees, etc. ok thansk
very much will take yuour suggetion, have a good day tyo sk

um thk u if u need anything just give us a call back again have a
good day u too SK (HUNG UP ANOTHER CALL QQ) GA

to be honest, i've never heard of a carrier offering support for 3rd party applications. going to them is a waste of time, in most cases.

Playing with mine, I noticed this happens when I set the connection to use MDS TCP. Try changing your connection setting.

Default I agree....but

I wasnt asking for their support for the 3rd party product, but rather codepend on them for proper settings...such that I might successfully use 3rd party products...to contact Cingular was what Rambler suggested in the thread at the top of this page after we were unable to get me connected:

"and you may need to check with Cingular to make sure your account has the proper settings."

Funny, Dawg. Didn't know you were a comedian.

a better option would be to either call and be like 'hi there i wanted to know the correct WAP settings for my cingular cell phone, I have xxxx plan and I just want to know what my WAP settings should be

or check out http://cingular.howardforums.com

I am still having no luck with the NXTL settings or any settings for that matter, all I get are 3 people on my buddy list. So I guess I will uninstall it until the nexted update is out on it.

I leave my BB running 24/7. But if the battery gets low and I try to log into rambler it gets stuck at the logging in screen. It'll eventually boot me out to the main screen instantly if i continue trying to log in. The only solution i've found thus far is re-installing the app. Any ideas?

I jsut downloaded the new ramble and it works great. Thanks Rambler.
The only thing i cant figure out is how to get the sounds to work. I have a 7100T and i can only get it to do a quick vibrate no matter how i set the settings. I have it all set to Tone+Vibrate and cannot get it to make an audible tone.

Default Pleasant monday suprise

Decided to check the SRA website for a Ramble update, and lo-and behold, a new update!
Needless to say, I grabbed a copy (had a heck of a time removing the old one...never deleted an application from my BB)
I installed it and my BB started beeping as it loaded everybody that was currently active on my buddy list! (my company uses AIM for quick internal communicaitions, so it was beeping for almost a minute as over 100 buddies loaded on my BB.
It is so great having Ramble again! Now I'm no longer tied to my desktop to accept IMs and send them back!
Thanks Again!
