Default DST Patch for BES v2.2 for Notes/Domino?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone!

I've seen all kinds of posts about DST patches for devices & for BES 4.x, but I can't seem to locate any info for those of us still in the dark ages of BES 2.2...

If anyone is able to point me in the right direction, I would truly appreciate it!

Thanks

See the DST FAQ on RIM's site...

There are currently no hotfixes planned for BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 Service Pack 5 or earlier. Upgrade to a later version to receive the DST updates.

I looked there first - saw no reference to BES 2.2...only 4.x.

I'll check again though...

OK...I see the quote now, thanks pej.

I can't say I agree with the statement, though...it's almost not really fair, and seems like RIM is using the DST change as a way to make money (which is fine, I suppose). Problem is, what are BES 2.2 users supposed to do if everything is messed up after the DST change...

Upgrading my BES is on my list for this year (not this WEEK - yikes!), but since for us it will require an additional server, an additional Domino server license, and the BES upgrade cost, it isn't exactly an "easy fix".

Any other BES 2.2 users out there in the same boat?

Yes we are also on BES 2.2.x, but have a BES4.x environment almost ready to go.

So in a 1.5 hour appt for each of our users we are:
upgrading the device OS to the latest & greatest for that model
cutting the user over to the BES 4.x server
upgrading desktopmanager
and applying the DST patch.

Not sure we'll get thru them all, but will die trying.

Having all kinds of fun with the DST patch status not reporting back to the BES properly.

We have 20 ppl still on 2.2 who refuse to allow IT to schedule a time to migrate to our 4.0 environment. They will just have alot of confusion when 3/11 comes... oh well...

While I am an advocate of DST starting early because I like it when it stays light outside into the evening.... wouldn't it just be a hoot if the government realized the hoopla they have caused & decided to change their minds? (not...)

RIM is certainly going to have great financial quarter!!

Looks like my users will just have some calendar issues for a little while.

We are just finishing up a rapid migration of 350 handhelds from 2.2 to 4.13. Painful but to be honest I will be glad to get rid of the beast.

Well we already had 400+ on our 2 BES servers pointing to a common SQL server. The pain was rapidly switching 350 handhelds from Tmobile to Cingular in a 2 week time period.

The 4.1 Enterprise Activation process is very nice and doesn't require any kind of client on the desktop (unless you want to charge via USB).

Agreed! I'm "lifeboating" my 2.2 users onto my 4.1.3 BES as fast as I can. I have roughly 200 North American users to deal with, and am leaving the International users on the 2.2 BES for now.

I built the new BES, put myself and the Help Desk on it first. Tested it over a weekend. Then started a pilot group in IT, finished that up, then put on the top execs personally and am working my way down the pecking order.

For the last group, they will get an e-mail outlining the issue and requesting a reply when they are ready to move. Then I'll move them, send them their EA instructions and then can reactivate themselves.

It's caused some confusion especially with my folks that feel the need to sync ALL the time, prying Desktop Manager from them will be hard but for new users they will know no other way but OTA syncing!
