Default Bold OS 5.0 upgrade issues

Please Login to Remove!

I am in some DESPERATE need of help.

I have tried several times over the last 3, 5.0 OS releases to upgrade my OS to 5.0. I download the file fine - delete the Vendor file - backup my device - and begin to install 5.0. Everything seems to go fine until it gets to the "Device Initialization" part of the process. The process bar on my BlackBerry will fill about 3/4 of the way and then the white screen with the 507 error pops up and a pop-up on my computer says that it can't connect with my device and to reconnect it and "retry."

I've started by wiping with BBSak and JL_Cmdr, same thing - started by installing over my current 4.6, same thing - installed through BBSak, same thing - installed through App Loader, same thing - installed through Desktop Manager, same thing.

I've done just about everything I could possibly think of and I ALWAYS get the 507 error.

PLEASE, SOMEONE, PLEASE, HELP ME GET 5.0 ON MY BOLD!! It's driving me insane that I'm unable to participate in the 5.0 goodness.

I guess that I should also mention that I have no problems installing 4.6 on my Bold. For whatever reason, it just doesn't want to load 5.0.

thatboiwes, this really deserves its own thread, not smack dab in the middle of this thread.

**i'll move this to its own** and we can discuss there.

What is the state of the device now? Running SO 4.6 ok?

507 is really only a simple "no OS recognized on the device" error, and *should* be easily overcome using loader.exe to load.

4.6 is running fine and after getting the 507 error, it will load just fine.

My only problem has been with 5.0. I don't know if my Bold just doesn't want it or what. But for whatever reason, no matter what I try, the progress bar stops about 3/4 through, under the "e" of BlackBerry and goes to the 507 screen and my computer tells me to reconnect my device.

Make sure for one, that you are connected to a main REAR USB port on the PC, not a front port and not a hub.

And you are using loader.exe, not Desktop Manager?

I actully have been using a front port, but it's the same one that is allowing me to install 4.6. But I will trying moving to a rear port.

I have used BBSAK, loader.exe from the AppLoader folder and Desktop Manager. All to no avail.

Try it one time on a rear port.

If it fails, try another rear port, etc.

You can actually look at your USB ports to see which one is powered correctly, but I honestly forget how.

Ok. I'll try that out.

I'm about ready to give up 5.0 on my Bod and just wait until I can get the Bold 9700.

Yeah, that definitely sounds like a USB hub issue. Do what JS said.

I want to thank you 'jsanders' for your help.

I purchased a new laptop yesterday and decided to try to upgrade one last time, thinking that it could have been the crappy computer that I was using and that was apparently the problem.

5.0.0.411 installed perfectly on the 1st try.

Again, thanks for taking your time to help with this procedure!
