I have recently upgraded my BES from 4.07 to 5.0 mr1, and we recently completed an Office 2007 roll-out. We currently run Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2003. I can open the Word 2007 files on my Bold, with Docs to Go, but all the other handsets we have 81xx, 8700 and 83xx are on v4.2.1 or better, with several updated this morning to 4.5 (with Docs to Go added) and they still come back with 'This attachment type cannot be viewed on your device'.

I have found the attachment service on BES 5.0, and a number of file types including Office 2007 files were set to NO. I have changed this to YES for all of them, just to test, and restarted the service. As a precaution to other changes i made with Desktop Manager upgrade, i restarted the server and users still get this error, only the 4 of us with Bold handsets can do this.

Previous advice posted all over the web, and by RIM, said you must have BES 4.1.4 or better and handsets on 4.2.x or better - we meet those reqs, but no further forward. Anyone had this issue and solved it???

Make sure the BlackBerry Attachment Service is running on the server that the BES is on(or the server that is designated as the BlackBerry Attachment server). This allows for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files to be converted to a format that can be properly displayed on the BlackBerry device.

it is running, found on the v4.4 OS you need to register Docs to Go and then do a free update to 1.08 (from 1.00) to make it 2007 compliant, and then it opens Word 2007 files (poor quality if you use a form template to complete your work).

However this would require me to upgrade nearly 40 handsets manually to v4.5 (for those handsets that can go to this level) and then manually register and upgrade DTG!!

There must be a better/global solution for this to work?? How is everyone else managing this, most companies are using the latest Office, and some with berry service?

i can get the ALX file for Docs to Go for the latest 1.007 that i need, along with the latest Google Maps ALX files - how do these get added into a BES 5.0 server to be able to deploy to all handsets remotely??
