I have tried to charge the phone via the wall adapter, car adapter and PC adapter. I have left the phone charging overnight and I still get the same thing....a blank screen. Once in a while the red LED light will turn on (about 20 secs) and then turn off. While still plugged in, once in a while the battery charge symbol will turn on (for about 30 secs) and then disappear. When connected to the PC the Blackberry Desktop Manager will load and the phone will try to connect but won't. I think it might be the battery not holding the charge but don't have another battery to test it with. The unit is about 2 1/2 years old and the phone store does not have a spare or new battery. Is it the battery or something else?

Probably the battery. Has it been dropped or gotten wet or damp recently?

What did you do just before it dies?

I would try a new OEM battery made for the device, not a cheap eBay knock-off.

The phone wasn't dropped or subjected to any liquid.

The only thing that I did was do a backup the day before. I was working after the backup and for at least 24 hrs.

I'm thinking it's the battery too. I will post the result once I get a battery unless someone has another thought.

Well I wasn't able to find a working battery but found a similar phone. I installed my suspect battery into the other phone, charged it and the phone came life. I took the charged battery and re-installed it to the original phone and it still does not boot up. Now I know it's a phone|software problem. Any ideas on how to fix this? I want to re-install the OS but the phone won't boot up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Similar phone meaning a pearl flip with the same model battery. Also similar meaning it's on Rogers and I'm on Telus.

Did you by any chance find this phone and are trying to use it?

I have 3 phones with my carrier Telus. The one that has the problem is my wife's. I have the Torch. I also have other family members who have|had the flip. This why I have access to other flips.

The 8200 series was not one of BB's finest. It sure sounds like a broken or damaged device or a dead battery.
