i live in a very rural area and i depend on my blackberry to connect to my home router. When i was with embarq my phone connected with no problem at all. I have since moved in with a friend and my phone finds his router and says connected but has no signal? i dont understand. when i go to wifi it shows full bars but when i exit to the home screen it has nothing except the name of the router.........?????

Some carriers require that you have a BB data plan before they will send the WiFi service book. You should check with t-mobile to see if that is the case.

What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

Is WiFi checked under "Manage Connections"? Have you tried a battery pull?

Does your friend use encryption?

i never had to do anything other than scan for networks and enter a key. like i said if i go into wifi it shows all green bars bot when i go back to the home screen it has the network listed but no signal.

Carriers are looking for users who do not have the correct plans.
They can block use on any service.
Do you have a blackberry data plan? not the cell data plan
