Default Who has used both? 9000 vs 9700

Please Login to Remove!

I will be upgrading soon (8310 now). I am debating between the 9000 and the 9700. I have compared the phones via web sites and will be checking them out in person when I can upgrade. I know so much is a personal decision so I am looking for some feedback from those who have experience with both phones. What were your pros and cons? What made you pick the phone you ended up with? What phone did you end up with? etc.

Any info would be appreciated. It is a 2 year commitment so I want as much info as possible. Thanks for your help.

Some things to consider. But as you said it up to the user.

The keyboard on the 9700 is much smaller than the 9000. That would be very important to me. One of the guys in the office upgraded from an 88xx to a 9700. The track ball seems like it works well, but the keyboard, and the whole unit, is really small.

Depends what you're using it for.

i own both units. I have to say I love both even though my 9000 has failed on me several times.

9000:
Pro: bigger keyboard, easit to type, bigger screen, easy access to SD card, leather battery door - scratch proof for me
Con: too big, batter latch is fragile

9700: smaller size, the design feels more solid to me
Con: smaller keyboard - takes time to get used to, smaller screen

overall, I still prefer the 9700 after owning the 9000 for 1 years and it failed on me several times.

As far as the keyboards are concerned, here's the mental process:

9000:
I typed a key. I know I typed the key. Yes.

9700:
I typed a key. Did I type the right key? Yes.

Eventually, you get used to it.

Here's the thing, the 9000's trackball SUCKS. The 9700's trackpad is a dream.
