Default can't close some apps - normal ??

Please Login to Remove!

Greetings -

New to BBerry.
Curve 8520, OS v4.6.1.259

Battery life not stellar.
Read up on battery life threads, including one about closing apps.
Didn't realize that they stayed open.

But -- some of the apps won't close.
Specifically --
  • Home Screen
  • Phone
  • Browser
  • Blackberry Messenger
  • Messages
I can understand that the Home Screen app needs to always be on.
Similarly for the Phone & Blackberry Messenger.
But the Messages & Browser apps?

Insight welcome.

Thanks.

- Richard

As far as I know, you can't close those apps. I guess they need to stay running in the background all the time. To save your battery life, just make sure you don't have many third party apps running (like facebook, app world, etc)

Wirelessly posted

Those apps are running all the time. Browser receives browser pushes that you may have subscribed to. Messages is always on because messages are pushed to the device, not pulled.

Probably the leading problem for users with short batter life is aftermarket and add-on apps running all the time. Next may be operating in a fringe coverage area where signal is minimum to in and out.

I can't cite a specific example, but make sure you do not have an app or any apps set to run in the backround on close (or exit). I'm not sure, but I have vague memory of an app that won't show in the ribbon when in background. (I may be wrong, but worth checking.)
