Default 9700 and Wifi

Please Login to Remove!

hello there, just signed up, just bought a BB 9700 already have upgraded the OS to .656...
My question is that I am able to hook up to my router with BB, once I turn off my Moblie Network and just use my wifi, I am able to surf the net with BB, but I am not able to receive any SMS or email...

Once into my Manage Connections just having my wifi checked and my SSID name there in green, but there is a White Dash there?....What does that mean? If I check my moblie network Rogers (in green) but it has a Green check mark there....

Im guessing that since there is a white dash there, that its preventing me to use the SMS while just on the Wifi connection....

Thanks

No, the white dash indicates no connection to BIS (hence no emails).
SMS comes over the mobile network, not wi-fi.

So how would I go about fixing that problem(BIS) with the white dash, what are some thing I could be checking. I do have a data plan also.
Could I also make any calls thru wifi with the 9700

The data plan that you have, is it a [b]blackberry[/url] data plan, and not just the generic Rogers smartphone data plan? If you have a blackberry data plan, try a hard reset. That is, with the power on, remove the battery for 30-60 seconds. See if that corrects the problem.

You will not be able to make voice calls over wifi unless Rogers has UMA. I don't know if they do. A search should answer that question for you pretty quick.

For some reason you are not conecting through to the blackberry/RIM system. All I know to try is re-send service books. See http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...rvice_books%3F.

Also try rebooting your router.
Sometimes its the router that allows all connections, but refuses full BB connection until a reboot.
