Default Blackberry Bold has corrupted itself (during an aborted update) - Help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I tried to update my Blackberry Bold (9000) but I ran out of time - (it took over 45minutes!) and so I was forced to unplug the device. And now the Blackberry appears to be corrupted.
I am getting a white screen with "App Error 200 / Reset" but when I select the reset it simply reboots back to the same screen!

Even after taking the battery out for a couple of minutes doesnt help.
Neither does a hard reset (Alt/right shift/Delete done twice).

How can I reset the thing back to factory status given than all I get to see after a reboot is a white screen?(!)

With thanks

plug into the computer and re-install another OS And pray.

I believe the warning prompt before you install says specifically to never do the above EVER during an OS upgrade?

Next Time hit cancel from the blackberry desktop manager or leave it.

Backups can take 2+ hrs plus it all depends how much you have on the device. (took me 4 hours to backup/update my 8700 to 4.5 ....I was beyond concerned).

A crucial rule of updating your BB is that you NEVER unplug it during the process until it has completed. It can take up to an hour to do so, sometimes longer.

If you already have the OS installed on your computer, what you should do next is view the following link and follow the instructions: How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

It's actually a lot harder to 'brick' a blackberry than you think. It's pretty much always recoverable if it's a software issue. If you run into hardware problems, then start worrying.

Hrmm...I had my BB for 48 hours before it got 'bricked' while uninstalling Opera Mini via the Desktop Manager. I think the plug may have come loose - but in this case, it was VERY easy to brick and cause the App Error 200...

Also tried all the fixes online - using some 3rd party tools to rescue it and reinstall the O/S but nothing worked. Luckily the handset was covered under the 'Early Life failure' warranty and I had it replaced the next day.

I've been through a ton of blackberries, many models, that got "bricked" and was able to recover them. I've never come across a non-recoverable device that wasn't a hardware issue.
