Default OS 6 update for Verizon Bold 9650 on BES plan?

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Verizon 9650 and just loaded the official OS 6 update that came out a couple days ago. I was prompted to udpate when I connected my phone via USB to my desktop and opened Desktop Manager; it was really easy.

My brother's work phone is a Verizon 9650 and he is also wanting to upgrade to OS 6. However, he isn't getting the prompt to update. He's got the latest version of Desktop Manager installed, but still nothing. He keeps getting the message "There are no software updates for your device at this time."

Can corporate phones not get this update? I'm not familiar with BES plans and restrictions that may or may not be put on them. Does anyone know how he can get the OS 6 update on his phone?

Default Re: OS 6 update for Verizon Bold 9650 on BES plan?

The BES administrator will likely want to control OS updates for BES-enabled handhelds.
As such, the BES admin can restrict wireless updates from occurring without their intervention. Typically, the BES admin will initiate the OS update on behalf of the user.

If he wants OS 6, then he should consult his IT department at his company.
