Default 911 issue...

DONT DIAL 911 take my word for it.. But today I witnessed a motorcycle vs car crash and as I was running to the motorcyclist I started to dial 911, I had the phone to my head and had to pull it away quickly since it made loud BEEPS to signal it was calling 911.. Now in this situation that doenst matter, but what if I needed to call 911 if say a bad guy was robbing a store and I managed to not be seen and slipped into the back, well my cover would be blown by the BEEPS. (It beeps like 3 times quite loud before dialing out)

Does anyone know if its possible to turn this off? Or how do we bring this to blackberrys attention, I think we should have the option to turn it off and its a very dumb thing to have since it puts users at danger. I remember reading a story about some cell phones doing this but I didnt think the blackberry would but I was wrong.

I have not used it but would think that I would not want any phone ringing in my ear

I have dialed from my 8820 and did NOT have this happen. Contact RIM about it.

You'll need to call your carrier and ask for BB support, ask to be transferred to a RIM tech.

But there is nothing you can do about it. It is not an option to turn off.
