Default Can I use my BlackBerry in U.S?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I have been happily using a BlackBerry Bold 9700 for a year now. I bought it here in Turkey and been using with the Turkish carrier Turkcell but now I am relocating to U.S.

My question is if I will be able to use my Blackberry in U.S by simply switching to an American carrier? Would my device be compatible or do I have to purchase a new device in U.S?

If the device is unlocked, then you should be able to use it here with a GSM carrier - i.e. AT&T or T-Mobile. However, you may or may not have 3G capability as the two use different 3G frequencies. It just depends on which freqs your BB has.

Make sure that you specifically cancel your BIS/BES account with your carrier before you leave. Otherwise, you will nt be able to connect for any RIM services.

Yes this Blackberry will work only on ATT and TMobile carriers in US because others are non-GSM but get it unlocked and you are all set.
Welcome !!
