Mysterious red square icon when device locked
Please Login to Remove!
I have a Bold which when the keyboard is locked, a small red square with a white tick/check mark on it appears on the top left corner of the screen.
Its the same size as a calendar icon.
Its not a browser message or a wap push message. Ive looked through the folders in messages with no luck.
I dont want to resort to wiping the device as I really want to know what it is.

My guess is you are using a third party theme and they have subtituted the lock icon for the square with a checkmark. I don't think its anything worth wiping your phone over.

Using the standard Precision Zen theme.
When the BlackBerry is locked, it shows a Padlock on the bottom right of the screen.

If you change themes, do you still see this icon?

There are only 2 themes on the device.
Changed it to Precision Silver, still the same.

Are you on BES? This could be some kind of IT Policy thing, no?

Im on BES, but I cant imagine an IT Policy doing this. Ive got other users on the same on the BES without this icon.
I'll scroll through the policy settings and advise further.

Can you post a screen shot of it? I'd like to see what it looks like.

Have you checked your "Tasks" program? Did someone send you a task for completion?

Hmm, you hadn't mentioned there was a "1" next to it; that certainly rules out the theme theory. If it is a message of some sort it "should" show up on all screens.
Have you checked with your service provider; possibly network related. Just shooting in the dark now cause I have no idea, but since I am now on a PC I see that you are using an 8900 and not a Bold (according to profile); I don't know if this makes any difference.

Yes it's for a reminder for a task. Go into your tasks and have a look around for one that has a reminder.

This makes sense, but why does it only show on the lock screen.
