Double the memory, a better camera, and OS6.

Moved to 9700 forum since it's been announced and is not a rumor. Unless it's April 1st and RIM is pulling a fast one.

Instead of releasing the 9780, why won't those twerps release OS 6.0 for the 9700? I don't really need the extra memory, and 3.2 megapixels is just fine for me since I don't plan on printing any 8x10 pictures.

And of course they do this just a couple months after I upgraded to the 9700 on a 2-year contract! The double memory would be useful for apps!

You have a valid point there. Why spend the extra money for the 9780, when a few months later Research in Motion will release an even better version, say, the new Blackberry Bold 9790, with a 1.1 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, along with touchscreen capability together with the same form factor as the 9700.... We would all be idiots.

Is the Blackberry 9790 that you say with all these great features really going to come out in the future? If so, how long until it does. I want to get the 9780 but after hearing this I might wait until The newer bold comes out

Wow, so it finally seems that we will have a real brownser for BB, cant wait for the 9780. I think the extra flash will be just a top up compared to the "all new features" that this smartphone is bringing to us, somehow a revolution into the BB world!!!

I was lucky enough to get to play around with one of these phones for a day...

After comparing the two (Bold II and 9780) side by side, its not a huge difference between the phones. More like an evolution. OS 6 is really nice though, the browser actually renders javascript on the sites that I tested much much better without mangling anything.

The ability to have multiple sets of icon groups on the home page is a really nice feature. You can finally organize icons and get to them quickly without going into subfolders.

I think the multi tab should be pretty slick also. I dont use my BB brownser very often cause its somehow desapointing but I'm hoping very much this shall change. Feeds and pod reader should be nice also.... There is a lot on the bloody 6 pack! GIVE IT..... QUICK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Announce or go on sale? Either way I will probably pick up one of these fine gadgets for the enhanced camera.

An eBay search presently shows the new 9780 available for preorder for only $999 via Buy It Now. Imagine the quality tail you can buy at Vegas for the same price.
