Default Best Case or Skin?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a new 8320, so far so good. What is the recommended case or skin for this thing? The skin is good for when you drop it or throw it, right? Can one use both a skin and case?

I use a Bodyguardz clear protector. There are others that are similar. These guys send two full sets instead of 1 and a few months ago added a lifetime warranty. The full one covers even the black rubber part of the phone whereas Best Skins Ever cover less, but also costs a lot less. I prefer the shiny black that you get when the rubber is covered, but BSE is a very cheap alternative.

One thing is it took only 2 days to get to me from when I ordered even though I did not pay for the faster shipping. They just got it into the mail really fast.

I use invisibleSHIELD. It too has a lifetime warranty. It doesn't cover the rubber parts. I don't see the purpose in doing that. I prefer having the stickiness of the rubber part for a better grip on the BB. But, too each his own.

One thing I have to add is that these are great coverings. But the corners/edges of the covering are grabby and over time lint, dirt, sand, whatever starts working under it.

I was sloppy on the first install, removed it to warranty exchange the phone, and reinstalled it. In 7 months enough stuff had gotten under the little tips that I installed the 2nd set. I was starting to worry that at some point the dirt would act as sandpaper.

On the 2nd set, I used a butane lighter to heat the edges for about 3 seconds at a time, constantly moving. That seemed to not only smooth out all the stress from a sloppy install, but also seemed to round off the sharp edges from the laser cutting. It seems a lot less grabby if I pocket carry so has been a little more immune to stuff getting under the edges. But I would guess I'll have to get one more set (under warranty) before I upgrade my phone.

You are heating the edges before it is installed on the BB, correct?!?

No, after it's installed. That's why I kept doing 3 seconds at a time and moving it around. It doesn't get all that hot.
