We run Exch 2003 and have multiple exchange servers in the same site, we have a few (3) in the UK and a couple (2) in North America.

We currently have about 20 BES users. Our BES server is here in the UK and has 5 UK users on it, the remaining 15 users are from our N.America offices.

My question is - Is it worthwhile installing a BES server in N.America on the same LAN as the Exchange server with the 15 BES users. We run the 'free' BlackBerry Professional BES (4.1.4.3) with a few purchased CALS. The N.America office will have about 15 of their own users on it soon and before I buy more CALS and load them onto our server I just wondered if it's worth having a 2nd server there and moving the N.American users onto their own BES? Since we run VMWARE etc in that office and are a MS Gold Partner, we don't really have any licencing issues and we won't have to purchase any hardware. Another reason is that we 'may' hit the 30 user limit on the free BES so I could split the users across 2 servers.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated,

If you're going to ever possibly approach the limit for BPS, most definitely add a server for the NA users.

I'd recommend you do that regardless of license count in most cases as your BES should be geographically near your Exchange servers.

I ran a 200+ user enviornment in Asia once and had the BES connected to a DB in NA across a decent WAN link so I could manage from the same BB Manager, but the BES always needs to be in close proximity to the Mail servers. As in LAN close... as a general rule.
