Exclamation BB 8350i on boost mobile Texting and calling issues

I am very new to Blackberrys! I have a Blackberry 8350i that I use with boostmoble. I just got the phone 2 days ago and can't seem to send txt. I clicked the SMS icon and a message pops up, "No message service configured. You will only be able to Save Draft". Any ideas on how to configure or fix it?

Also when I save contacts and try to call someone from my contact list or even my voice mail, it says " The number or code you have dialed is incorrect, please check the number or code and try again". But when I dail the number manually, the call goes through. Any ideas on how to corroect this issue?

The 8350i can't send SMS - only MMS. I don't know if Boost offers that or not. Requires a data plan on standard 8350i with Sprint BB service.

I had the same problem with calls. I found that the 8350i adds the number 1 before the area code for saved contacts to produce 11-555-555-1212 rather than 1-555-555-1212 that you have saved in your contacts. I edited all contacts to not include the 1 and it dials correctly. When you dial manually it does not add the 1.

New_to_BB turn off the smart dialing feature...it cured my issue with placing calls via contact list.

looks like you already got a lot of answers but I'll add this just as clarification.

To fix the ptt dialing from contact list feature, press the green call button then the button next to it for options, scroll down and press options and go to smartdialing, turn country code to unknown.

For the texting and web (and email for example w/ mobile gmail) it needs to be flashed for boost. There's a person on ebay who flashes them with the correct software and mine works w/out a problem.

my texts come thru without a subj, is there a way to fix that?
