Default email and wifi

Hey guys, how are you ? I'm new here, and I have a question:

I have a BB 8520 with an active BIS data plan (I live in Venezuela, and my carrier is Digitel), and everything works perfect (email, BBM, browser, UberSocial). Next week I'm going on vacation to the USA, and I won't be able to connect to my carrier or other mobile carrier (roaming service is so expensive here), so I'll be using hotel's wifi. My question is if I'll be able to send and receive email using that wifi connection.

I've found mixed answers to this (some people say I can't use email if I'm not connected directly with my carrier, while some people say it will work fine), so I decided to ask it here

Thanks in advance

Daniel

In a perfect world, the answer is yes, they will all work. WiFi has priority when it comes to data. Do not turn off mobile data however.

However, not all WiFi is created equal, so the best answer I can give is all should work, but you won't know until you try it.

This may be an Apple/Oranges thing, but on a recent trip to Canada I turned off CELLULAR DATA and relied on WiFi only on my iPhone. Worked perfectly for email and web browsing. I just went ahead and paid the roaming rates for voice calls as I made so few of them.
