Default Auto ON/OFF

I had a question about this setting on BB. Why is there even a function like this? Maybe its becasue I'm new to blackberry, but does it help to shut down the blackberry everynight for couple of hours? What is the reason for this? My guess is that maybe when RIM updates BB software its done when it turns off/on? I have no idea but is what are the POSITIVE and NEGATIVE of using this Auto ON/OFF setting on BB? Thanks

Its just a setting to tell your BB when to shut off and to turn on... I use this feature with my work BB to turn on at 7:00 am and turn off 9:00 PM M-F.

I don't use this with my personal BB. Also, you may want to check out the FAQ section. It has allot of info for beginners.

For starters, I find the Auto ON/OFF functionality invaluable. I get calls & emails 24/7, but don't really want to wake up to a bunch of system monitoring emails at 3am because an ISP is doing scheduled maintenance, etc. I set my phone to go off at 11PM and turn back on at 5AM, which gets me 6 hours of uninturrupted sleep! (Bedside mode option is new to the 4.7 OS)

Nope. Nothing like that - it's just for your convenience.

There really aren't any pro's/con's. It's simply a matter of preference.

So if you set your Tour to go off at 11 PM and on again 6 hours later, when do you charge your phone, during that 6 hour time frame?

Yes. I plug it in before bed and grab it on my way out the door in the AM.
