Ok just needing opinions on the to from all users and pros and cons of both 8130 and 8830, whats better and what not...... say what ever. Its just a stupid argument me and my friend have been having. So give pointless feed back on both.

I have the 8830 and my girlfriend has the 8130. I love mine and she loves hers. I personally can do without the camera and I much prefer to have each letter on an individual key.

Its a matter of taste. Just test them out make sure that you go through everything you can, typing, holding it in your hand, everything.

I've own both and neither is better than the other in my opinion as they both do the same things minus one has a camera and the other doesn't. I miss the full keyboard but love the pocketability of 81. Which I now own. I can type just as well on my 8130 as I could on my 8830. Both are solid devices in my book.

I prefer the 8830 for the full keyboard.

I have had the 8830 for a little over 2 months now. I love it. I came from a razor, so I can't compare the email features, but the full keyboard is a major plus in my eyes. I never used the camera anyway so I don't miss it. I never carry a phone in my pocket so that wasn't a feature either. I like the bigger screen too. Much easier on the eyes.

Love my 8830, hate the nephews Pearl. Haven't had lots of time on the pearl, but I just like the bigger screen and keyboard on the 8830.

I like them both, but the earpiece volume on my Pearl is way too low compared to my 8830. However, the 8130 has better build quality than the 8830 which sqweaks like an old mattress.

See, I feel the exact opposite. I think my 8830, even with it's non-oem black housing, feels tighter and more solid than the pearl. When my nephew handed me his pearl, I immediately thought I might break the keyboard quite easily.

Is your nephews Pearl an 8100 or an 8130. The 8100 does feel cheap to me too, but my sprint 8130 is solid.

I test drove both and prefer the 8130. I can type just as well and fast on the keyboard. I also have found I use the camera quite often. I can snap a shot of my newborn daughter and instantly email it to a family group email. During tech support issues if the tech doesn't understand what I am trying to express I can snap a pic and email to them. I find it very handy. I felt like I had a big garage door opener hanging off my belt with the 8830.

Verizon 8130 - still felt cheap to me compared to my 8830.

Neither. "Better" (as with choosing any BB model over another) comes down to choosing the features and keyboard you prefer.

I have both. I'm the bes admin for my company and have been given a 8830 to carry for work. I personally own a pearl.

8830 Pros

Better battery life over the pearl
very stable
Screen is bigger
My 8830 feels more solid than my pearl
I have less issues with running out of available memory vs my pearl

8830 cons

not able to recieve MMS messages

Pearl pros

Smaller form factor, nicely fits in pocket
Camera with flash and the quality is decent
MMS Messaging capability
I do like the keyboard and after getting used to suretype it can type pretty fast on it.

Pearl cons

I can only get 2 days max out of the battery
The phone locks up on me from time to time and I have to do a battery pull to fix it.
It runs out of available memory every once in a while and my sms and mms messages disappear when this happens. I bought a 1 gig memory card for the phone and this still happens.
I am experiencing this issue as stated at HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - VZW 8130 - Can't hear other person since upgrade
and am waiting for a software update to hopefully fix it.
The trackball "click" function quit working on my first pearl so it had to be replaced. VZW gave me a refurb phone which I know is their policy but makes me mad when you pay as much as you do for these.

CONS for both of them is they don't ring loud enough!!!!!!!

I only looked briefly at the 8830 before I bought my Pearl. While I can see the appeal of the larger screen and full keyboard, pocketability was a very big factor for me...it rides almost unnoticeably in my shirt pocket. Also, I like having the camera, even though I don't use it a lot.
