I got that SIM card with my 8700c as well. I was having OS issues with the BB that shipped to me, and when I took it to the store the tech put the older SIM into a new phone. Not sure why, but meh.

Just because the marketroids at Verizon and Sprint say that EVDO is "3G", doesn't make it so.

While I agree with you...Be careful, you might get banned for simply disagreeing with a mod...

And yes, Verizon is being untruthful...

YOU WILL NOT GET BANNED FOR STATING YOUR OPINION. And i do not appreciate your statement. It all depends on how you handle the conversation. Being rude while disaggreeing with a MOD or any other member COULD result in a ban. Please do not spread false info such as this

Thanks for understanding. We try to maintain a positive atmosphere here at BBF. However, we (MODS) are human as well and sometimes we have bad days. A little understanding on those days can go a loooong way. Have fun with your posts

back to the question from the original post:

Cingular is currently running 3G in multiple markets and expanding everyday, you can search this forum or the web and find a list to see if you are in one of these areas.

Cingular has been using 3G branded sim cards for some time now... at least 6-8 months. just because your sim says 3g doesnt mean your phone supports 3g or that you are currently in an area that supports 3G.

Hope that answers your question.

From what I have read, and from what BG has reported, HSPDA and UMTS are not part of the 8800..it will be GSM/GPRS/EDGE...no 3g...what gave you that idea?
