I'm a longtime bb user & have been on the 7130 e for over a year now. Several weeks ago I made the mistake of allowing my nephew to play w/my bb & since then the auto text & smart-word lists have been off kilter. I have the multitap enabled yet bb has forgotten much of my smart & auto text word lists and to make thinks worse it inputs an accent above many of the letters.

I've edited the auto text & smart word lists & done a soft re-boot (battery removal) several times all to no avail. Has anyone experienced this problem before & more importantly is there a fix? I spend more time editing my e-mails then the original message is worth.

I had an issue when using SureType, but I just went into my custom word list and deleted the incorrect words and had no more problems after that.

If you are using MultiTap method, I don't see how you could be having errors other than user input errors.

the word list and deleting the words that are wrong should do the trick you can also back up just that part of your BB to a later date when it worked by using the desktop manager.

You had to have already done a backup, and then you could use that file and do a restore. If you don't have a old backup file, then for future reference, it'd be a good idea to backup your device frequently. I generally do it about every other week.

Do you not have to 'disable' multitap for SureType to work?

I am sure this is not what you are looking for as I have a full keyboard with my 8700c, but did SureType get toggled off accidentally? In the body of a message you are composing, hold the * key down for a few seconds. See if that helps. If not, hold it down again to return to the mode you prefer.

If you are seeing accents above letters where you didn't before, it may be because your nephew accidentally changed your language to french. When composing an email you can go to an option to change languages. Try confirming you are using english.

I would have never thought to check the language - I think that was it. Many many thanks for your help in solving this problem.
