Are either of you subscribed to the tethering plan?

Did you plug the device in with Desktop Manager running first in order to get the drivers installed?

Yes, 4.7 desktop was installed 1st before I loaded ACM. I just did an uninstall of ACM.. and re-installed same issue. Before all of of this I uninstalled my previous Verizon tethering software as well. Desktop Manager see's the bold with no issue..

Quick question, when I load up ACM it prompts me for a password.. I assume this is the Blackerry Device password and not some password for tethering..?

Ok, I tried this now on 2 pc's and 1 laptop exact same result.. not wireless device detected, yet it does see the Bold as it asks me for a password. I have to be doing something.. 2 of the 3 pc's used to have verizon tethering software but not the 3rd.. multiple reinstalls, even called at&t and they had me downgrade RIM desktop manager from 4.7 to 4.6 with same result...

3 usb cables, 2 bolds, 2 pc's 1 laptop, 1 phone call to AT&T support, and a partridge in a pair tree. The only time I was able to get it to recognize it, is once while doing a handheld wipe and while keeping it connected to the pc with the AT&T communicator software open it recognized it. Other time was having communicator open and connecting a brand new out the box bold it recognized it as well. I also deleted and created a fresh account on the BES server as well.

Finally got it working... problem is i did so many things I don't know what fixed it.. next week I will try and figure it out.. my main suspects are..

Bold firmware update to vodaphone is the latest..
downgraded BB Destop from 4.7 to 4.6
Changed IT Policy (both allowed tethering) but.. maybe I'm missing something..

I had a change to do some troubleshooting today, and my issue was caused by the IT policy. With my old 8703e, same policy had no issues tethering, but somehow it has an issue with the bold.
